When viewing portraits at the Met, the National Portrait Gallery or the Louvre, one usually overhears whispered expressions such as “amazing,” “oh my,” “impressive,” and “masterpiece.” But there is a different type of museum where when viewing the works of art, one hears exactly the same expressions, BUT the opposite meaning of the same words and phrases apply. This museum is called The Museum of Bad Art,  or MOBA. It is the world’s only museum dedicated to the collection, preservation, exhibition and celebration of bad art in all its forms. According to the website:  Since 1994, the Museum of Bad Art has been dedicated to bad art. It is only through the efforts of the worldwide Friends of MOBA that we have been able to carry out our mission: to bring the worst of art to the widest of audiences. Clowns, kitties and aliens seem to be widely represented within the collection, but you may be coveting a masterpiece. It is best to email a photo to curator@museumofbadart.org.
